Perched on a corner in iconic Kangaroo Point, Brisbane diners are stepping inside a new local with a twist. The rejuvenated Queensland cottage now houses Banter Bar & Seafood, where a unique bar space meets local, quality seafood.

‘This goes beyond your average corner bar,’ says owner Craig Singleton. ‘We’ve worked hard to design an eye-catching space with the menu to match. From the world’s best craft beers to locally-caught seafood, Banter’s biggest focus is on quality.’

Diners step through the door to discover a classic Queensland cottage lined in weatherboards. Through the open, breezy rooms, blues and whites contrast in a Hampton-style scheme. As eyes flick up to the glowing neon sign, they settle on a backlit bar lined in international and national craft beers, wines, and spirits.

With hands clutching a Summer Berry Sangria or Gin Cucumber Spritz, guests are free to move to an indoor table or settle onto the deck. Perfect for summer, cocktails will be met with a suite of fresh seafood, prepared by Head Chef Daniel Miletic.

Previously working at The Fish House, Burleigh Head’s two-hatted seafood venture, Chef Miletic is well versed in stellar seafood. At Banter Bar & Seafood, he commands the kitchen with plates of Pacific oysters and pomegranate mignonette, a ‘posh’ fish finger sandwich with freshly crumbed cod, and fresh prawn cocktails.
