After a period in West Village’s pop-up Garden Pantry Restaurants in 2018-2020, Cheeky Poké is returning to West Village in late May as part of a brand new dining precinct.
Loved for their healthy and customisable poke bowls (featuring fresh and cooked seafood, meat and plant-based options), unique poke-filled tacos and irresistible taro crisps, the West Village venue will be located on ground floor of the historic Peters Ice Cream Factory and marks Cheeky Poké’s fifth location in Brisbane.
Owner Sam Demetriou grew up around seafood at his parents’ fish shop, finding inspiration for Cheeky Poké while on a trip to the cuisine’s home, Hawaii, in 2017. West End is also close to Sam’s heart, thanks to fond memories of visiting his grandmother in the suburb over the years.
“My grandmother came from Cyprus in 1972 and moved to West End to be close to her family and community,” said Sam.
“It was great to open the pop-up, but now I’m really proud to introduce a long-term addition to the suburb that my family’s called home for decades.”
Featuring top-quality seafood, nori and wonton shell-clad poke tacos, hearty soups and curries and an endless array of fresh add-ons, Cheeky Poké’s fusion of influences and ingredients is perfectly suited to West End’s diverse heritage.
When open, Cheeky Poké’s neighbours will include Woolworths, Harris Farm Markets, and several independent dining outlets including the recently opened Beirut Bazaar.
