It’s riesling’s turn to take over Fortitude Valley, with lush urban beer garden the Osbourne Hotel hosting a celebration of all things pertaining to the grape variety from April 14 – May 19!
Alongside four expertly curated events, For the Love of Riesling will feature a dedicated riesling menu, shining a spotlight on Australia’s leading riesling producers during Autumn! Chilling down the fresh fruitiness of riesling for a unique warm-weather bev, the new Friesling (frozen riesling) is the slightly older sister of frosé (with the very same Instagram potential).
The curated list of riesling-focused events will celebrate the growing popularity of the grape, with bottomless long lunches to dessert pairings that will bring even the most die-hard rosé drinkers around to the refreshing drop.

Kilikanoon Riesling Long Lunch | Sunday 14th April 12pm-2pm | $50 + bf
Hosted by BJ Jull, this long lunch is a laid-back and delicious way to experience award-winning riesling from acclaimed South Australian winery Kilikanoon Wines (2018 Australian Wine Producer of the Year).
With two hours of bottomless Mort’s Block and Killerman’s Run riesling, Osbourne Hotel’s chef Ben King has devised an East-meets-West menu to match the acidity, minerality, and fruity notes of the rieslings on offer.
Alongside the bottomless wine, guests can choose from a matched menu of stunners including Pork Belly Ramen, Ras El Hanout Goat Tartlet with Cucumber Raita, Karaage Chicken with Asian Vegetables and Glass Noodles, and Mushroom and Pineapple San Choy Bau.

Sticky and Sweet Riesling and Dessert | Thursday 2nd May 6:30pm-7:30pm | $25 + bf
Join Tim Hampton from Pure Wines for a riesling and dessert pairing to satisfy that sweet tooth! Explore riesling’s sweeter spectrum with a carefully handpicked lineup including Urlar’s Noble riesling from New Zealand, and Longview’s Epitome late harvest riesling from Adelaide Hills.
This sweet occasion will feature inspired dessert creations by Osbourne Hotel’s chef Ben King, including Forest Floor (chocolate soil with meringue toadstools, matcha moss, edible flowers, and raspberries) and Desert Rose (caramel praline sand, lime semifreddo, pomegranate and rosewater).
With only 25 seats at this sweet table, Sticky and Sweet is a unique wine pairing event that can’t be missed.
For the Love of Riesling Autumn Harvest | Sunday 19th May 11am-3pm $10-$35
The riesling for the season, Autumn Harvest is set to be a tasting extravaganza with sumptuous Asian bites to pair perfectly with Aussie rieslings.
With a glass of Leo Buring riesling on arrival, guests can choose from general entry (with five wine tasting tokens), or a Yum Cha package with ten tokens plus a tasting basket with pork belly bao, vegetarian nasi goreng, duck spring rolls, and chicken karaage – the perfect sweet/spicy pairings for the diverse freshness of riesling!
There’ll be live music to complement your sips and snacks, and even more riesling (and friesling, of course) available to purchase!
