With restrictions lifting (praise the return of dining in!), now is a great time to start looking to the sweet, inevitable future, when cafe, restaurant, and bar doors can fully re-open as usual!

While the last couple of months have been crazy for everyone (get us a takeaway cocktail, stat), it’s so important to keep our business focus on the future, and how we can prepare for that glorious day that normal trade returns.

Of course, it’s not going to be a walk in the park, so we’ve gathered some steps you can take now to come back even stronger post-Covid.

Take a step back

The unusual pace of business at the moment is a great opportunity to take a step back for a little introspection and analysis. Think about what you and your customer-base loved about your pre-Covid offering, what you’ve witnessed during the different stages of restrictions and what your goals are, and use those insights to shape your business goals, offering, and structure for when things fully straighten out.

Make a change

If you’ve been offering takeaway, retail, and/or private dining and have seen it performing well, maybe you should consider keeping it up, or offering it semi-regularly (do we hear a permanent picnic pack in the works?) when things get back to business. Re-opening for normal trade is also the perfect time to make a few changes. Tuesday nights just weren’t working for you? Now’s your chance to revise menus, hours, and any other details you’ve been needing a chance to refresh.

Support your supporters

Whether you offer them a coffee or dessert on the house, or gift them with the house-made relish that went gangbusters, expressing your thanks to those who supported you while things were a bit… difficult… is a gesture of goodwill that will see those friendly faces return again and again.

Look to others

If you’re looking for an extra boost when you get back to doing what you do best, consider looking to external sources for a helping hand.
