Brisbane’s newest up and coming dining precinct is set to send others green with envy, with the tastes of Il Verde set to arrive at Fortitude Valley’s King St in September. Just a stone’s throw from the iconic Brisbane Showgrounds, this modern Italian dining venue is slated to become a landmark spot for weekday corporate lunches and casual weekend dining.

Owned and operated by trio Simon Barakat, Dom Barakat & Ibrahim Haddad (known in the industry as Bob), Il Verde will no doubt thrive from the 40+ years of industry experience that have seen the Barakat family go from strength to strength running Brisbane’s most enduring Italian institution, Gino’s on Kingsford Smith Drive.

The team are working in tandem to craft a thoughtful and contemporary meeting place with a strong focus on social dining for all ages. With multiple spaces to accommodate larger groups, guests will be treated to a diverse range of Italian fare with a modern twist.

Reflecting the venue’s namesake, the menu designed by Haddad is tipped towards all things seasonal and sustainably sourced. Featuring the likes of wood fired pizzas made using slow fermented dough and toppings such as premium hand minced waygu or smoked salmon, the menu will also take care to provide a range of options for dietary requirements. Fusing traditional techniques with ultra modern flavours, Haddad says “the trattoria will depart from the classicism of its predecessor as it explores the future of Italian cuisine”.

With an Aperol Spritz to start, diners may begin their Il Verde experience with the piatto di antipasto. Together, the table will savour the venue’s finest selection of Italian cured meats, mixed cheeses and seasonal char-grilled vegetables. Once the table is cleared and main courses are served, twirl your fork into a bowl of saucy wagyu beef bolognese or pull apart the intense flavours in Il Verde’s prosciutto fungi pizza. Of course, no Italian experience is complete without a spoonful of tiramisu, and the chefs at Il Verde couldn’t be happier to provide.

Doors will open on interiors decked out in earthy and green tones to match the youthful, industrial energy of Fortitude Valley, with indoor dining, bar seating, and booth lounges to match a range of ages and occasions. An open kitchen and grill will bring a vibrant and theatrical element to this 90 seat venue as patrons catch a direct view of the chefs in action.
