Short Order is a concept store specialising in a high quality range of ready-to-go dining options by chef and writer Lizzie Loel and the team at Jocelyn’s Provisions. Their menu includes succulent free-range chickens sourced from the Maleny hinterland, organic lamb & succulent, crackling-wrapped porchetta, cooked on a traditional French rotisserie, vibrant salads and creative vegetable dishes and an extensive range of sauces, flavoured butters and dressings, desserts and artisanal breads complete the table.
Recently chef Callum Rogers joined the team, bringing with him a wealth of knowhow and experience gained everywhere from exclusive ski resorts in Canada, the UK and the tropical oasis of balmy Palm Cove. After 11+ years in fine dining working with luminaries such as Jamie Oliver and at the multi-awarded NuNu in FNQ, Rogers was looking for a new challenge and the ability to carve out a work-life balance, while still creating exciting food that utilises the best local produce he can get his hands on.
Short Order, with its ‘Daily Goodness’ mantra and emphasis on quality and panache is the perfect match for this ambitious young chef who recognises that this way of eating is the future. Alongside the selection of proteins, is a range of plant-based options that act as either sidekicks or the main event. Do duck fat roasted potatoes with thyme and garlic, cauli gosh – mustardy cauliflower cheese, and whole roasted Jarrahdale pumpkin with harissa, chickpeas and tahini yoghurt appeal?
How about the ‘daily goodness’ bowl of grains, nuts, seeds, kale, goji berries and avocado yoghurt dressing or the charred zucchini, tahini, chilli and mint? These are salads that satisfy. Pulling the offer together is a range of sauces, dressings and flavoured butters that complete any table – think chicken & thyme jus, zesty chimichurri, spicy romesco & kimchi or caramelised onion butter to complete your feast.
Everything is prepared daily in store and everything sweet and indulgent arrives fresh from the famous Jocelyn’s Provision around the corner. The team will create bespoke catering menus for events of all sizes. Innovative options begin with a range of breakfast options or lunch platter boxes for team meetings or client get-togethers, as well as canapes and sweet & savoury finger food, perfect for any size gathering.
