You might order a martini at a cocktail bar, but have you ever made plans to meet at a martini bar?
From laneway locals to iconic drinking dens, the Fish Lane Arts Precinct has a wealth of enticing bars and restaurants which can easily be considered some of Brisbane’s best. Come September 8, the renowned street will welcome one more when Midtown, an intimate 40-seater that focuses on two-sip martinis and classic cocktails, opens.
Midtown is located underneath Aria’s award-winning residential building, The Standard, which is situated at the midpoint between South Brisbane’s arts and culture precinct and West End’s eclectic dining and entertainment hub. Intimately small, the bar will be divided into three areas that provide distinctive guest experiences: Uptown, Midtown and Downtown. A 20-seat bar of spotted gum runs along the centre of the venue (Midtown) leading to a compact, yet cosy, private dining room that seats 6-8 people (Uptown). A lush outdoor area (Downtown) completes the venue and creates the perfect spot for small groups to enjoy alfresco drinking.
Operators Daniel and Amelia Miletic, whose seafood restaurant One Fish Two Fish is synonymous with good flavours and a great time are at the helm at Midtown. The hospitality pair have travelled extensively and funnel their new ideas into their offerings, with Midtown set to be reminiscent of great small bars & social clubs across the world. Slight Spanish, Italian and Balkan flairs will come through in the branding and peripheries of the food menu, and the bar will have a sense of familiarity that is sure to make it a regular sipping spot for locals.
Every martini served at Midtown is an occasion. Whether you’re relaxing after a meeting or getting together with friends, the intimate surroundings provide an unforgettable moment from afternoon to late evening. Expect to see classics such as the French, Pornstar or Espresso martinis or evolve your palette and opt for an Olive Leaf martini, Apple & Rhubarb martini, Elderflower martini and more. Prefer it your own way? Midtown can do that too.
The drinks, complete with the cocktail classics and succinct beer, wine and drive-home offerings, will be complemented by a menu of elevated bar fare, including a raw bar, delicious small plates and a selection of charcuterie and sea-cuterie. And yes, for all the One Fish Two Fish fanatics, their infamous lobster croissants will be making an appearance in miniature form.
Whether you’re coming with friends or looking to make new ones, Midtown’s Supper Club which will run between 10pm and 12am every Friday and Saturday nights, will be a must. The music will be loud, the lights will be low and the kitchen WILL be open. Supper Club will have its own exclusive menu featuring prawn croquettes, Midtown gilda, caviar, steak tartare cigars and more.
Whether you’re looking to switch up the usual watering hole, or you want to impress the group chat, Midtown is a must. Walk-ins are welcome, bookings are encouraged, drinking is mandatory.
