A cornerstone of Brisbane’s urban landscape, The Barracks has long been an iconic destination, steeped in history and known for its vibrant mix of dining, retail, and entertainment. Once home to the city’s original police barracks, the precinct has transformed over the years into a dynamic lifestyle hub, drawing in locals and visitors alike.
Now, The Barracks is embarking on its next chapter, reinvigorating its offering with a refresh that’s set to reaffirm its status as one of Brisbane’s most exciting destinations.
The Barracks revamp began with Lick! Ice Cream in late 2024, delighting visitors with its handcrafted, locally made ice cream. Adding to the excitement, two more highly anticipated venues are set to open soon. Ichiban Sushi will swing open its doors on Wednesday, March 26, while Krabby’s Crab Boil, the seafood hotspot hailing from Melbourne, will make its Queensland debut very early on in April.
Opening in the tenancy at the very top of the Caxton Mall part of the precinct, Ichiban Sushi, meaning ‘number one’ in Japanese, prides itself on using the highest quality produce and the freshest seafood and meats, all ethically sourced. As a family-owned business, the team is dedicated to delivering an authentic dining experience with a focus on excellent service.
Meanwhile, Krabby’s Crab Boil is bringing its one-of-a-kind Louisiana-style seafood boils to Brisbane for the very first time! Having completely renovated and reinvigorated one of the biggest tenancies in the precinct, the Krabby’s team is looking forward to inviting guests to roll up their sleeves and dive into a feast of fresh seafood, seasoned to perfection. From king prawns and snow crab to mussels and clams, the menu will be packed with irresistible combinations that are sure to delight your taste buds. The venue will offer a lively, interactive dining experience perfect for group gatherings and celebrations, ensuring every meal is an unforgettable occasion.
These two new venues make fantastic additions to The Barracks precinct offerings. With neighbours including Libertine Restaurant & Cocktail Bar, Moda Restaurant, Palace Cinemas and other independent eateries and stores, there are plenty of reasons to sip, play and spend at The Barracks. Stay tuned – there’s more to come in the coming months.
