Brisbane’s inner-city heritage precinct, The Barracks, continues to evolve as a destination for bold flavours and curated experiences. From the charming brick facades to the lively laneways, the precinct is fast becoming a magnet for food lovers – and its newest arrival, Tellus Bar & Dining, is set to elevate the offering once again.
Opening in mid-June, Tellus is more than a venue – it’s a philosophy. Named after the Latin word for ‘earth’, Tellus is inspired by the elemental trio of grape, grain, and dough, each playing a defining role in the menu and experience.
The grape is celebrated through an expansive wine program – 30 wines by the glass, 70 by the bottle, thoughtfully balanced between old and new-world selections. The grain anchors a Latin-inspired food menu rich in texture, colour, and substance. And the dough comes alive in the venue’s outdoor breakfast concept, Alfresco +1 by Tellus, which will be a collaboration of offers with Picnic Cafe West End.
With strong roots in global technique and a local sense of hospitality, Tellus is helmed by a new wave of culinary talent blending Dutch roots with a passion for Latin inspired cuisine Expect big flavours, generous portions, and a dining experience grounded in quality, warmth, and detail.
Alfresco +1 by Tellus in collaboration with Picnic, on the other hand, delivers a casual morning alternative, with outdoor-only seating, a custom Paradox house blend, and vibrant pastries made for sharing. It’s built around the ‘plus one’ idea – an extra coffee, a lingering chat, or that one friend who makes breakfast better.
Tellus joins an exciting line-up of new additions at The Barracks. Lick! Ice Cream arrived in late 2024 with its handcrafted, small-batch scoops. Ichiban Sushi brought fresh, fast favourites to the precinct in March 2025, and Krabby’s Crab Boil introduced Brisbane to its signature seafood feasts with a Queensland-first debut in April.
The launch of Tellus marks the next bold chapter for The Barracks, cementing its place as one of the city’s most dynamic dining precincts – where heritage meets innovation.
