Pastry-fiends better beeline to King St: there’s a new sensation set to shake up Brisbane’s bakery scene. Queen Amann Bakery will officially swing open its doors on Thursday, 26 June, bringing signature kouign-amann pastries and authentic French flair to the bustling Bowen Hills precinct.

If your love language is an iced latte and a sweet treat, prepare to meet your newest obsession. The Breton kouign-amann is what co-owner Larry Lim describes as “flaky, buttery, and just a little bit full of itself.” Perhaps the only time two of those adjectives are actually a good thing.

Adding to the indulgence, Queen Amann Bakery will serve perfectly crusty sourdough, handcrafted focaccia, loaded sandwiches and plenty more tempting pastry goodness. Fresh juices and expertly brewed specialty coffee seal the deal.

The dream team behind this carb paradise? Lim knows his coffee game inside out, teaming up with legends Ania Kutek and Eddy Tice, the masterminds behind some of Brisbane’s most beloved bakeries including NYC Bagel Deli, Cordelia Sourdough Backhouse, and Superthing Bakery. When these three get together, magic happens. Delicious, buttery, impossibly layered magic.

Opening week promises to be anything but half-baked. From Thursday 26 June to Sunday 29 June, the first 50 customers daily will score a free kouign-amann with any drink purchase – because nothing says “welcome to the neighbourhood” quite like a free pastry.

One thing’s certain: the Queen has arrived on King St.

Where to find your new go-to? Proving good things rise twice, Queen Amann Bakery is breathing new life into the former King St Bakery premises, open seven days a week for your morning pastry pilgrimage or that mid-afternoon ‘I deserve this’ moment.

King St has something to satisfy every interest, craving, and creative pursuit – and now it has the pastries to match.
