The latest addition to the La Costa collective that added two bars to the Valley scene in December, La Valle is a cosy nook dedicated to the perfectly Italian mantra “il vino è vivo”: Wine is life!

Now open on Alfred Street, La Valle is a wine bar and bottle shop firmly rooted in its location, a gateway between Spring Hill and the Valley with a textured urban outlook.

“We loved bringing light, colour and exceptional cocktails to La Costa and Cielo, so La Valle is a perfect contrast with its darker interior and shelves packed with top quality wines,” says group owner Stefano de Blasi.

Stocking over 200 wines for dine-in or takeaway, visitors to La Valle can expect popular contemporary producers like Payten & Jones and Athletes of Wine alongside exclusive allocations of the likes of Gabriele Scaglione’s Barbera d’Alba, produced a quick drive from owner Stefano de Blasi’s hometown: “It’s pretty special for me to be able to bring Gabriele’s wine to Brisbane and give our guests at La Valle a true taste of the hills and valleys of Piedmont.”

The fun doesn’t end there for wine lovers, with La Valle also introducing a wine club offering in-venue tastings and private functions, online orders for kerbside pickup or delivery, as well as rewards including invitations, exclusive releases, and discounts for regular spenders across La Costa restaurant and bar and Cielo rooftop bar. A range of beers, ciders, vermouths and pre-batched cocktails (as well as weekly live music delivering ’80s and ’90s favourites) is also on the cards.

It wouldn’t be a wine bar without snacks for pairing, so La Valle keeps things simple and satisfying with cheese, charcuterie and tinned seafood, and street-style focaccias loaded with mortadella, basil pesto, grilled zucchini and salty pecorino.

From Friday, January 15 La Valle will open from 5 pm on Wednesdays, from midday until 4 pm and again from 5 pm on Thursdays-Saturdays, with hours likely to be extended in future.

Set to be both as a hub for wine lovers and a welcoming spot for newcomers, La Valle offers the Valley a perfect joint for a knockoff, a before- or after-dinner wine or a familiar local with a list worth exploring!
