A vibrant new destination is set to touch down on Bowen Hill’s King Street, infusing the up-and-coming precinct with the bustling energy of Vietnam’s hawker stalls.

Banoi first found fame on the streets of Melbourne, captivating diners with its uniquely homestyle Vietnamese fare. In May, the institution’s third venue will open to Brisbane locals, whisking diners away to the food markets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.

The name ‘Banoi’ comes from the Vietnamese word for grandma, a nod to the inspiration behind restaurant owners and cousins Michael Nham and Viet Nguyen. Together, the two share the flavours behind their childhood dinners – a collection of dishes first crafted by their grandmother.

Now, every visitor to Banoi receives a place at this family dinner. Sitting shoulder to shoulder in the intimate setting, heads turn to ever-emerging plates of fragrant, nourishing food.

The diverse menu plates up fare for those alone, on the go, or with the whole family in tow. Suited to every appetite and occasion, diners will encounter aromatic bowls of pho topped with slow-poached chicken breast, fresh rice paper rolls filled with pork belly, pumpkin puree and candied chillis, and vermicelli noodles with lemongrass beef and imperial spring rolls.

Above all else, Banoi offers a captivating dining experience from start to finish. Drinks such as Vietnamese coffee and kumquat lemonade will complement those orders of bao, banh mi, and Cao Lau noodles.

As the King Street dining precinct speeds up its evolution of Brisbane’s foodie scene – eventually set to become a hub of 40 new, dynamic tenants – Banoi is yet another piece of the puzzle. The venue will be open Monday to Saturday from 11.30am – 9pm.
