Diners in Brisbane’s Fish Lane will find themselves whisked to the streets of Asia at their very own table when doors open on Chu the Phat. Set to overhaul the up-and-coming dining precinct from 5 May 2017, the South Brisbane spot imbibes casual street food dining with Brendon Barker’s flair for Asian flavours.
Barker, Madame Wu’s executive chef, joins rawGROUP as they surmount the success of the Eagle Street favourite with a new restaurant concept centred on the hawker stalls of Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. In a multi-level endeavour, the restaurant and bar offers a more casual take on its older sibling’s enchanting fare. Barker’s diverse range of offerings welcome guests of all occasions – from banquets and street dining, to after-work drinks or takeaway lunches.
The ground level invites scenes of Chu the Phat’s open-plan kitchen, where patrons might glimpse chefs with plates of crispy pork dumplings and fermented chili, fragrant brisket, rice noodles, and iron eggs.
Lunchtimes will offer fare designed for corporate and leisure, with casual takeaway and in-venue options starkly contrasted with lengthy tasting banquets.
Paul Papadopoulos, director of DS17, spearheaded the design of Chu the Phat’s striking interior. In a budding central district, the Fish Lane spot showcases an industrial look with soft finishes modernised with out-of-the-box installations and lighting. Chu the Phat is set to turn heads of avid Madame Wu fans and keen socialisers alike on Friday 5 May 2017.
