We can all agree that there wasn’t a more devastating sight than seeing the iconic yellow striped umbrellas of Riverbar + Kitchen submerged in flood waters. Since being completely destroyed in the February floods, the riverside venue has finally set its sights on an October grand reopening.

In the space of just a couple of hours, Riverbar + Kitchen went from a buzzing spot for brilliant bites and beverages to a swimming pool of flood waters that certainly surpassed head height causing catastrophic and costly damage, with everything from food to furnishings destroyed.

Co-owner Matt Moran who has a soft spot for the river city said “to see such a beautiful venue go under water was absolutely horrible. When the floods came, it wasn’t just about losing the venue but you have all your staff and customers to worry about too.”

After the freak weather incidents of February, the Solotel team has had the opportunity to reinvigorate and elevate the venue, 10 years after the original opening. The team has spent the last eight-months rebuilding and replacing everything that once was Riverbar + Kitchen, they could not be more excited to be reopening.

“To rebuild from a completely blank canvas has been amazing – it’s going to be a great refresh, a reinvigoration of what it used to be with a newer design, new branding and an elevated concept,” says Matt Moran.

With the new fit-out will also come a brand new menu. Venue manager Wesley Smith and head chef Bambi Chanpen have been working alongside Moran to elevate the food and beverage lineup to include breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. Customers can expect to see a strong focus on fresh local produce highlighted in the offerings including a raw section of seafood sourced locally along with a shared cocktail menu including a Cherry Pie and a Walk in the Tropics, perfect for Summer sipping.

Riverbar + Kitchen is set to reopen mid-October and can’t wait to welcome Brisbane back to their newly renovated and reinvigorated venue.
