Brisbane’s favourite riverfront destination is taking on an Italian twist this summer. Starting on December 1st, and running for three months, Riverbar and The House of Peroni will unite to deliver an elevated experience portraying true Italian style, passion and flair.
The popular venue will be dressed in Amalfi-inspired decor, giving the breezy spot a European flair during the classic Australian summer. An extended outdoor plaza area will also be in full swing, featuring stylish bar carts, umbrellas, sunshine, and of course, Peroni on hand to keep guests refreshed.
With fashion forming part of the immersive experience, Riverbar’s staff uniform will undergo a makeover thanks to the work of Melbourne-based fashion designer Megan Taylor. Their usual fit will be transformed into a stylish get-up featuring funky bucket hats, modern boiler suits, and specially-designed patterned aprons.
With a focus on art, the month of December will be kicked off with a live mural painting on December 1st by contemporary First Nations artist from Goreng Goreng Country, Rachael Sarra. She is widely recognised as the talent behind ‘Two Worlds’, a projection that was most recently displayed on the William Jolly Bridge. Those familiar with the venue can expect to see the river-facing wall transformed into a masterpiece of light, colour, and vibrance, exemplary of her feminine, fun and engaging style that draws on her experiences as a young Aboriginal woman in a modern world. What’s more, a light projection will be overlayed on the mural at night, bringing the art to life as the city comes out to play.
In addition to the classic Peroni Nastro Azzurro available by the pot, schooner or pint, guests of The House of Peroni will be treated to a Peroni Spritz made with Aperol, lemonade, orange and Peroni. A curated aperitivo menu will also be on offer, changing each month throughout the installation. December visitors can expect to indulge in pancetta croquettes, kingfish crudo, and octopus bruschetta.
As the city returns to the grind at the start of January, Riverbar & Kitchen’s outdoor plaza area will come to life as the home of the Australian Open. With TV screens set-up to stream the major sporting event from January 16 to 30, a waterfront breeze, stunning views, Peroni and a delicious aperitivo offering to go with, it’s the perfect place to take in the Australian Open action.
The third month of the Peroni experience will be distinguished by live music every weekend in February, with household names such as Hatchie and DVNA performing at Riverbar.
Spend this summer enjoying the sweeping river views and waterfront breeze with aperitivo in one hand and an ice-cold Peroni in the other. The House of Peroni officially launches at Riverbar & Kitchen on Wednesday, December 1.
